To find the Allt Goch wheelchair walk follow the B4569 out of Llanidloes – the car park is just up the hill on your left. A sharp 270  degree turn! You need to swing out onto the opposite side of the road as the entrance is only a car width.

The entrance is a Kissing Gate and only just enough room to get through. Having been in contact with the Council (September 2024) about this, they have informed me that they are about to renew the gate and will take my comments on board. I have suggested a Bridle gate which would also allow mobility scooters through.

The main path directly ahead of the gate has a hard under-surface but there is mud on top. There are also several cross drains /culverts for the rain which have stopped the path being washed out.  With care you can manage crossing these as we did. This path continues all the way down to the  B4518 road but the exit is not suitable for wheelchairs at present as rough and couple of “rocky steps” There is a good handrail there if you can get out of your wheelchair for a couple of metres. we do not recommend as very muddy and too steep in places.

We suggest you resist the temptation to take one of the enticing right or left turns – we tried, but found that they were very steep and muddy in places. Too adventurous for us!
