Description
Parking at Severn Beach can be busy. Each time we found a space on Riverside Park at the end of Station Road. Plenty of spaces to park just past driveways for wheelchair access ramps to fit. There are many other places to park and gain access to the Severn Way walk.
There is a short 7 degree tarmac ramp to get to the top of the flood prevention scheme and the Severn Way wheelchair walk. Other parking has less steeper access in places. Turn right at the top of the ramp going North and you walk under the M4 Prince Of Wales Bridge. This follows a heritage trail which ends just past the original ferry that connected train passengers. (There was a further ferry at Aust) At the end of the tarmac you can continue walking all the way to Aust going past a large wetland and bird observation point for Pilning Wetlands. RSPB web site To continue the track is stony and not comfortable for a wheelchair.
In 3 places you will have an option to use a lower concrete path instead of the higher tarmac one.
Suitable for
Non powered wheelchair – self propelled – All terrain wheelchair. Power wheelchair / mobility scooters / pushchairs / buggies.
Additional Information
Instead of turning right you can go left and walk towards Avonmouth on a tarmac path. We have not done this.
The toilets are on Beach road just past the post office.
There are 2 cafes in the area.
