Description
Go past Neyland Marina as far as you can drive for parking just before the walk begins.
Go through the entrance gates onto the tarmac path which has several names! Brunel cycle track (old railway line) to Johnston / Cycle route 4 / Westfield Pill. Having crossed under the road bridge you will see a bund across the river – this stops the sea going upriver and keeps the river full of fresh water. This has created a wet land for wild life. There is a side path to your right to the bund and a hidden bench around the corner to watch the birds. For the Neyland Westland Pill Reserve, you continue straight along the path (not right). A second gate is passed to enter the reserve area. You will have the river on your right with 3 picnic benches and a small water area on your left.
The walk continues to the far end of Westfield Pill where, having gone through a third gate, you enter a small car park. It is possible to cross the road here and continue to Johnston – but we haven’t done that part.
Peace, tranquility and great picnic spots on the walk.
Suitable for
Non powered wheelchair – self propelled – All terrain wheelchair. Power wheelchair / mobility scooters / Pushchairs and buggies.
Additional Information
Over half of the Pembrokeshire population of Little Grebe overwinter in the Westfield Pill reserve.
Neyland Marina has toilets, cafe and a bar.
You can also walk south – down past the Marina, next to the river and the road you drove on.
