Description
Please note car parking is only free either November 1st to March 31st OR all year with a blue badge for 1 hour after getting a 30 minute stamped parking ticket which is free for all vehicles. In winter the far end of the car park which is not tarmacked is used for boat storage. The car park can fill up due to pubs / shops / cafe. The 2 blue badge parking spaces are at the end of the car park on your left before a public boat launching spot. They have wonderful views if the weather is inclement and you can not do the walk. Having parked your car the wheelchair walk is on the car park side down a tarmacked path. There are benches at the far end just past the Yacht clubhouse for enjoying the view and having a picnic.
Back at the car park you can cross the river to a grass area with picnic benches. There is access to the sandy beach here at low tide. This goes down around the far corner to the harbour entrance. Soft sand for about 50m and then a short area of hard sand and small boulders, before turning back to sand.
Suitable for
Non powered wheelchair – self propelled – All terrain wheelchair. Power wheelchair / mobility scooters / Pushchair / buggy
Additional Information
The cafe on the Quay is not open all the time and up steps at the yacht club. Plenty of other places and pubs by the car park.
When you go past the boat launch position after 0.28 Km there may be loose stone or sea weed from a high stormy tide.
If you have a suitable wheelchair / pushchair then the walk on the beach during low tide is great. Be careful as the tide comes in fast.
